Integrating stormwater collection with agricultural reuse can be effective in water-scarce settlements. Close coordination among the municipality, regional water authorities and irrigators’ community is essential. Existing, low-energy infrastructure can provide benefits when responsibilities and preventive maintenance are clearly established. The experience also highlights the need to monitor water quantity/quality and distinguish rural, peri-urban and urban components when planning replication.
